Dear Friends,
I am humbled and honored to have the support from the people in my district and especially from the Vietnamese community. That support enables me to represent you in the Texas Legislature. I am proud to be the first Vietnamese State Representative in Texas.
I know our community has accomplished so much in the short period we have been here. We have successfully integrated into business and every profession. Our children have excelled in school and have received their education at the finest universities across the nation. But, we cannot forget that we have to take our seat at the table of politics so that we can have influence over our lives, our community and our government.
I am sending you this message to ask for your help. I was elected the State Representative from District 149 on election day November 2, 2004. My opponent, who had held the office for 22 years, would not concede to me and called for a recount (which he lost). Then he filed a challenge to the election. Finally, after losing the challenge he conceded on February 7, 2005.
The lengthy process I had to go through to defend the office I was elected to took considerable time and money. This year I am running for re-election. Now, that same opponent is running against me in this November's election. I need your help to continue this historic legacy.
In the legislative session that I was honored to serve in last year, I worked hard to represent you. I want to continue to serve my district and the state of Texas but, I especially want to make it possible for others to follow me into elected service.
I will not be able to beat back this challenge if I do not have the money to run a good campaign. I need your help now! Please go to my website www.hubertvo.com and click on contribute where you can donate the amount you can afford on your credit card. If you prefer, you can mail a check to Friends of Hubert Vo at P.O. Box 2227, Alief, Tx 77411. Help me pass this message along to your friends.
I've been honored to have the support of the community and I hope that you will join with me to keep our dream alive.
